I must start with dumplings. Dumpling making and sharing has been an important aspect of Chinese peoples’ life for hundreds of years. My childhood weekends were always spent making dumplings with the family, mum making dough and covers, dad chopping meat and vegetables and turning into filling, sister and I trying to help. We were talking, laughing, arguing while making. Then we sat down sharing, enjoying, and making comments…. It is a all night teamwork. My favorite time has always been Chinese New Year's Eve. After the early New Year Dinner, we would immediately start making dumplings. We ate these at midnight to welcome the New Year. For this occasion, we had ‘luxurious’ fillings: pork, smelly chives, fresh prawns and more…
